Bollywood actor and assistant director Siddhanth Kapoor, son of veteran film personality Shakti Kapoor, who was being held on drug charges, was released on bail on Monday evening, police said.
The actor and the four other arrestees have been released on bail with an instruction that they must file with police as and when required, a police official said.
Siddhanth, brother of actor Shraddha Kapoor, was arrested by police on Sunday night at a five-star hotel on MG Road here during an alleged rave party. ”Bollywood actor Shakti Kapoor’s son Siddhant Kapoor has been confirmed to have taken drugs. He tested positive for taking drugs in the blood test report,’ Deputy Commissioner of Police Dr Bheemashankar S Guled told reporters on Monday. Around 35 people at the party were medically screened and five of them, including Siddhanth, were confirmed to have used drugs.
During the raid, police also seized seven “ecstasy” pills and a packet of marijuana from the party area.
The defendants were convicted under sections 22A, 22B and 27B of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act.
Police had uncovered drug abuse in a section of Kannada’s film industry in 2020. They then arrested actors Ragini Dwivedi and Sanjjanaa Galrani and former minister Jeevaraj Alva’s son, Aditya Alva.
