Have you been living under a rock this week?
You were probably not in fact live under a rock, but if you’ve been disconnected from Disney and movie news for the past few days, you’ve probably missed a bunch of big announcements! So today we catch you up on all the Disney+, Hulu, movies and TV news from the past week.
Ads are coming to Disney+
Disney announced that they will begin offering an ad-supported subscription to Disney+ in late 2022. The option will first launch in the United States this year and then expand internationally in 2023.
Disney will announce an official launch date, pricing, and additional details at a later date.

First, let’s talk about casting and hiring updates for new shows and movies! Two actors have been added to the cast of In envelope 2, coming to Disney+ and Disney Channel. According to Deadline, Claude Knowlton and Antonio Cayonne will both have supporting roles in the film.
And if you’ve been horny since Santa starring Tim Allen, then you’ll be happy to hear that the show now has an executive producer and director! According to Deadline, Jason Winer took on the role.
And speaking of Santa, Variety reports that Kal Penn has joined the cast of the show. Penn will play the role of Simon Choksi, an “ambitious game inventor and product developer, and devoted single father.” He dreams of being a tech tycoon, but he doesn’t achieve his goals. However, that all changes with a visit to the North Pole!
We also have some new trailers for movies coming this week! First, Disney released the trailer for Better Nate than ever. It’s coming to Disney+ on April 1, 2022.

And Marvel fans will be delighted to watch the final trailer for Morbius, which hits theaters on April 1. We can’t wait to see this movie in just a few weeks!
In the wings
We’ve shared details in the past about the new show chinese born american it’s coming to Disney+. It is directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, who also directed Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. And this week, executive producer Melvin Mar shared a photo on Instagram announcing the start of production. We look forward to seeing this show soon!
