Maestro Ilaiyaraaja will perform a live music concert in the city here on June 2, on his 80th birthday, including hit tunes like ‘Thendral Vanthu Theendumbothu’ and ‘Ilaya Nila’.
The veteran musical director has composed more than 8,500 songs that have appeared in nearly 1,500 films in nine languages and performed more than 20,000 concerts during his career spanning more than five decades.
”It’s a pleasure to hold a concert in Coimbatore on my birthday. Come listen to the songs you all love the most,” Ilayaraja said in a press release here.
Chairman of Sri Krishna Institutions, S Malarvizhi, lit the usual lamp and started selling tickets ranging from Rs 1,000 to Rs 1 lakh for the event attended by Radhakrishnan, Supreme Mobiles, Mohan Chander, Uma Mohan Chander, Origami Concept School and Dr. Santosh of FIMS Hospitals, the event’s organizing team said in a statement on Saturday.
Mano, Karthik, Usha Uthup, SPB Charan, Yugendran Vasudevan, Vibhavari, Shwetha Mohan, Anitha, Priya Hemesh, Surmukhi and many other renowned singers will perform with Ilaiyaraaja at the event.
Leading South Indian stars will share the stage with the ace music composer to entertain the audience, according to the statement.
